THRIVING ON A ‘RIFF’, YOU NEVER THRIVED ON BEFORE



MONDAY: Remembering, Cuban pianist, Rueben Gonzalez, of the Buena Vista Social Club, who returned to music in 1996, at the age of 77, to record his first album, and international acclaim.



TUESDAY: There is no generational disconnect in Cuban music. Dafnis Prieto, the young Cuban drummer who took new York by storm, has built on the tradition, of the music of the previous generation.


WEDNESDAY: An American singer , Tom Lellis, and a Brazilian guitarist /singer, Toninho Horta,, engage in a quiet but sensitive dialogue on classic standards.



THURSDAY: The decline in sales of reggae and dancehall internationally, has not prevented, the legendary drummer, Santa Davis, from making good music, nor, the elder statesman of reggae, Burning Spear, who continues to march with the times.
